The eSport guru Carmac, known for his columns and edgy interviews with progamers all over over world scribbled down the opinions of various profiles in the community.
The questions he asked were "How good do you expect SC2 to be compared to SC?", "Will SC2 kill the SC and WC3 scenes?" and "What do you think the pros will do? Will they switch instantly or wait to see what happens?". He asked known names such as Legionnaire, Lucifer, Raistlin and FuRy. Below are some snippets.
“Warcraft in effect killed SC, because it stopped lots of new players from coming in to replace the ones who left. SC is still so strong, though, because it was just so damn good. I think SC2 will have the same affect, except it won't be as bad as Warcraft 3.

“I don't know. In Korea StarCraft will still be alive. As for Warcraft 3... hmm... I hope it survives.
- JaeWok "Lucifer" Noh
“I think at least every pro-gamer in StarCraft 1 and WarCraft 3 will try it out as soon as it's out. And I'm quite sure the majority will find it to their liking, and after a couple of weeks: BOOM! We'll see Moon fighting Savior in the first offline tournament.
- Patrik "Raistlin" Hellstrand
“I hope they try to build on the past success instead of going their own crazy way like Valve by creating a completely new game loosely based on the same formula that actually worked (the CS: 1.6 / Source whine-o-rama).

I think BW will more or less die. Even if it lose
only 50% of the players that will be a huge impact
on bw comunity. And i doubt any new gamers who
didnt play sc yet will pick sc1 over sc2. Not to
mention the focus of most gaming clans on SC2
instead of bw.
It might be that sc2 wont live up to expectations
but i highly doubt that.
